About 13, 1300 and 1800 Numbers
In Australia, there are three number ranges for National and Toll Free services. These services are available to any business anywhere in Australia.
13 Numbers
13 numbers are the premium phone numbers in Australia, as there are less than 9,000 in the 13 number range. 1300 and 1800 numbers total nearly 2 million.
13 numbers have 6 digits in total. An example is 13 CABS (13 2227). 13 numbers allow your customers to call from a fixed line anywhere in Australia for the cost of a local call to the customer.
13 numbers tend to be used by national companies who want to take advantage of the scarce number range and differentiate themselves from the competition.
1300 Numbers
1300 numbers are 10 digit numbers and operate exactly as 13 numbers, in that they enable customers to call from a fixed line anywhere in Australia for the cost if a local call.
1800 Numbers
1800 numbers are 10 digit numbers to allow your customer to make calls free of charge from any fixed line in Australia.
